Abstract
A high-quality HDTV signal transmission system is presented. It can transmit 1.2 Gb/s HDTV signals at 622 Mb/s and 156 Mb/s. A performance evaluation was conducted for HDTV motion picture signals, using a digital video tape recorder (VTR) and a frame memory. Experimental results showed that transmission system performance coincided well with that obtained by computer simulation. Visible degradation was hardly observable. The size and power consumption of the existing codec and other equipment are larger. However, more compact hardware will be achieved with the further integration of circuits
