Abstract
A passive optical distribution network (PDN) architecture is presented that is capable of distributing 40 channels of high quality National Television System Committee (NTSC) video and providing switched synchronous optical network (SONET) based DS0 and DS1 services. It is based on the use of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and optical multiplexing of spectrally sliced light emitting diodes (LEDs)
