  • Abstract
There are many approaches which use breath gas to diagnose disease such as lung cancer, breast cancer and diabetes. But, it has not been used in medical field because of low accuracy by low concentration of target component (ppt, ppb level). According to previous study, end-tidal concentrations of volatile organic component (VOC) correlated with carbon dioxide (CO2) levels. So, we propose CO2 measurement method from breath gas using blind source separation. To verify feasibility of my approach, we measured 132 samples from 10 persons (Age 22~36, 6 males, 4 females) and calculate standard deviation of measured signal and source signal. At the 0.05 level, the difference of the standard deviations is significantly different (p=0.001). According to this result, it shows our approach is applicable to measure CO2 from mixed breath gas. And, it enables to measure VOC using breath gas.
