Abstract
Ideas are presented for using the sampling period as an additional parameter to permit the control of a digital control system. In this class of systems the sampling period becomes an important parameter to guarantee the stability and to modify widely the specification in a design problem. A modified root locus approach has been used and the sensitivity of the poles in the closed loop system is examined. An example shows how to compensate for variation in the gain of an open loop transfer function with the sampling period used to maintain a constant damping ratio
