Abstract
The investigations performed has shown that the propagation of meso- and macroscale localized-plastic deformation bands in the specimens with ultrafine-grained structure in thin subsurface layer or in the material bulk is observed under loading. Macro- and mesobands are generated in the vicinity of the grip edges of a testing machine. The localized-plastic deformation bands are uniformly distributed in the whole working part of low-carbon steel specimens subjected to ultrasonic treatment. The macro- and mesobands are localized at the ends of a-Fe specimen.
