Abstract
The paper presents a new buck-boost converter for fuel-cell applications. The active switches in the new converter are turned-on with zero-current and zero-voltage switching and turned-off with zero-voltage switching. Neither the converter experiences any over voltage/overcurrent stresses nor does it suffer from the zero-capacitive turn-on loss, which is present in other soft-switched converters. A steady state analysis of the converter is done to derive the conversion ratio. Experimental results from the prototype are also presented to confirm the operation of the converter. The converter is then interfaced with fuel-cells to regulate the power to a prototype toy car
