Abstract :
With all advantages of the algorithm JPEG, main of which are the great compression ratio and the adjustment of the picture quality loss there are considerable shortcomings: complex hardware implementation, comparatively low operation speed because of that during the process of the discrete cosine transforming the nonintegral multiplication of matrixes is used that requires large computational capability In a series of cases it is not acceptable. The algorithm considered in the given paper is used to provide the required high operation speed compared with the algorithm JPEG compression ratio., Developed algorithm is based on the same principles that the algorithm JPEG. However, instead of the discrete cosine transform the Walsh transform is used.
