  • Abstract
    With the development of smart grid, smart substation assumes an increasingly important role. Compared with the deficiency of traditional substation, the concept of smart substation, the key technical characteristics of smart substation, relay protection and three typical configuration types are described in this paper. The key techniques in smart substation were developed that is an inevitable trend for the future of smart power grids development.
