Abstract :
A fully quantized, 4.8-kb/s, code-excited, linear predictive (CELP) coder using a stochastic-multipulse codebook and a self-excitation sequence (SESTMP) is presented. The coder is compared to a standard CELP coder with respect to both complexity and quality. It is shown that the SESTMP is far less complex with little perceivable degradation in quality. Implementation on commercially available digital signal processors is discussed
