Abstract
An internationally coordinated series of subjective listening experiments were carried out on the 16 kbit/s low-delay code excited linear predictive (LD-CELP) algorithm for adoption as a CCITT recommendation (G.728), in two phases, qualification and optimization. The tests adopted are described, and an outline of the performance of the codec under realistic network conditions is given
