Abstract :
This paper describes the design and practical implementation of an acoustic analyzer based on the ANSI S1.11 standard. The instrument has been implemented on a DSP card, hosted by a PC, resulting in a low-cost system with specifications similar to those offered by commercially available instruments. The complete system has been designed from scratch, making efficient use of the DSP capabilities and exploiting the possibilities of the PC as a user interface.
