Abstract
With the advent of JPEG-2000 considerable research is required on suitable hardware architectures for implementing the separable two-dimensional wavelet transform. We review current scheduling algorithms, before presenting an efficient new algorithm for computing a multiresolution wavelet transform in two dimensions. The improvements resulting from this approach are discussed and a new architecture for computing the 2D wavelet transform based on this is presented
