Abstract
An analysis of the main parameters determining the performance of a trellis-coded modulation (TCM) scheme, together with a comparison of the algorithms used in evaluating these performances in a computationally efficient and fast way, is presented. Performance evaluation methods are matched to the symmetry degree of the TCM scheme so as to take advantage of it in reducing the algorithms´ complexity. New examples of application are also included
