Abstract :
In this paper analysis of radiated emissions (RE) from the cable/wire in RE102 test setup is investigated using Numerical Electromagnetic Code (NEC) software. Wire/cable models are simulated in open circuit, short circuit and matched load configuration which may correspond to a signal line, power supply line and an RF cable, and their results are analyzed. The analysis shows that cable/wire connected with the EUT radiates more in vertical direction (direction normal to test table) as compared to the horizontal direction (direction parallel to test table) at various bands of the testing frequency range. Generally vertical measurements (normal to table) are not taken for the measurement of EMI/EMC. The performed analysis suggests that this is important for EMI/EMC compliance of the unit / subsystem particularly for the cases of satellite where electronics are very closely packed and push is for using Commercial of the Shelf technology.
