Abstract
Certain trends in communications are expected to have a significant impact on power supply manufacturers. These include: traditional versus nontraditional manufacturers and services; telecommunications “unbundling”; falling PC prices; DC versus AC powering of data communications; changing backup power needs under the “packet versus circuit” model; emerging telecommunications technologies; and the increased use of nonisolated DC/DC power converters
