The contradictions in modern naval asset management and their resolution

The Royal Navy (RN) is having to reconcile a number of contradictory trends that include reducing financial, manpower and support resources against a backdrop of increasing operational commitment, wider geographical disposition of assets and increasing duty of care as enshrined in the Military Covenant. This paper provides an overview of the means by which naval assets are managed against this backdrop and how these contradictory trends are being tackled.
