Abstract
Two agencies in Southern California in 2006 desired to become very effective asset centric work organizations in terms of managing all their resources and their assets. One took the strategic approach to solving their immediate needs while the other used the operational and functional approach. They are both elements of an enterprise wide asset management program and the paper describes the approach, the methodologies and benefits gained in each organization with the missing links for maximizing benefits over the long term.
