Data analysis in the water industry: A best practice guide

It has been recognised in the UK water industry that there is an ever increasing requirement for data driven decision making and strategic thinking, particularly involving asset management and investment. Established in May 2009 as an affiliate of the Royal Statistical Society, the Water Statistics User Group (WSUG) aims to share statistical approaches and promote best practice data analysis across the UK water industry. WSUG has developed a guide to best practice data analysis, which can be used by industry participants and regulators to promote and validate the quality of analytical processes, models and outputs. This paper outlines the main themes of the guide.
