Abstract
Summary form only given. In order to quantify the contribution of points located out of a plane array of electrodes in an impedance imaging system based on 2-D reconstruction algorithms, an in vitro experiment is carried out for a physical model. For each pertinent set of four electrodes the volume distribution of sensitivity is then mapped experimentally. The results show that surfaces of null sensitivity exist, extending the null lines already observed in the electrode plane. Principally it appears that the contribution of points as far from the plane as the radius of the array are still measurable. However, the sensitivity distribution is not the same for all sets of electrodes, so that this effect is reduced when the image is reconstructed
