Abstract :
This paper illustrates simulation evaluations of a single-phase half-bridge active power filter (APF) employing fuzzy logic control. In the evaluations, single-phase bridge rectifier is conceived as a load to the AC supply system, which emulates nonlinear load characteristics. The proposed system is connected parallel with the load and at normal condition it gives appropriate compensation to resolve problems caused by the load such as current displacement and harmonics. The system under study shows promising results to be explored further in hardware implementation. In particular, the current tracking ability and the dynamic response of the compensation strategy have been shown to be satisfactory. Result obtain are also compared with the more established topology and technique; full-bridge topology and proportional-integral control technique respectively. Evaluations of the proposed system are by Power System Blockset (PSB) and Graphical User Guide (GUI) of MATLAB-Simulink simulation package.
