Abstract
The Fourier rebinning algorithm has been implemented to reconstruct 3D PET data from the 24 ring scanner ECAT EXACT HR. The performance of the algorithm is studied using measurements of line sources, of uniform cylinders and of an FDG brain scan. Both the resolution and the signal-to-noise ratio are as good as those obtained with the standard reprojection algorithm (3DRP) algorithm, and the noise structure is also very similar. Low level ring artefacts are observed in the difference image between the FORE and the 3DRP reconstructions
