  • Abstract
Techniques are presented for assessing the overall skin and electrode impedances relative to the impedance of the body interior during electrical impedance imaging. The resistivity distribution is modeled as the combination of a thin layer of high-impedance skin immediately below the electrodes and a larger, approximately homogeneous, field of lower resistivity representing the body interior. Experiments performed on the upper thigh of a human subject and on a resistivity phantom consisting of a saline bath are discussed
