Abstract :
In this study, a by-pass circuit is provided to the secondary winding of the leakage transformer type operating circuit with by-pass circuit for a metal halide lamp. This study intends to demonstrate by simulations and experiments that content of higher harmonic components of the supply current waveform can be controlled to the lower level by a by-pass circuit. It is also shown by this study that content of higher harmonic components of the supply current is not affected significantly by fluctuation as much as input terminal voltage ±10 V and can be controlled to the lower level.
