  • Abstract
With the extensive use of power cable in China, power cable fault is also increasing year by year, seriously affecting the power grid and the national economy. Cable location is the precondition of eliminating cable faults. But up to now, mature cable fault location methods in the world are mostly based on off-lion status and there is still lack of effective method on-line method. So it has practical significance to study cable on-line fault location. In this paper, wavelet analysis concept is introduced, and research wavelet application in on-line fault location which based on multi-resolution analysis and modulus maximums. Three methods are proposed: line model time difference method, line-zero module time difference method and wave velocity irrelevant method. Those three methods are also simulated and compared in different fault situation. Cable fault simulation model is building in Matlab, after the Analysis of the results, arrive at a more appropriate method.
