Abstract
A 4*4 spatial power-combining array with strongly coupled oscillators in a multilayer (3-D) structure is presented. By connecting oscillator unite with resistors to suppress undesirable modes, stable oscillation of the in-phase mode is achieved and the output power from individual oscillators is combined spatially in the broadside direction. With its multilayer structure, the main radiation pattern from the antenna side is not affected by the radiation from the circuit side. This type of array can be extended to include more oscillator units and is suitable for the application of monolithic power-combining arrays in the millimeter-wave region.<>
