Abstract
To make a maximum use of scintillation light output from GSO crystal, the authors investigated dependence of the light output on the surface condition of the scintillator using Monte Carlo simulation. A series of data from 10×10×10 mm3 sample with various surface conditions was compared with experimental data. When the specularity or degree of mirror-finish was changed continuously from 0% to 100%, the light output was found to fall down rapidly in the region beyond 90%. The calculated energy resolution showed a similar tendency to those from the experiment
