  • Abstract
Direct generation of digital modulation at microwave frequencies ( L, C, Ku, and Ka bands) is attractive for digital microwave communication systems. The author previously (1981) proposed the use of minimum-shift keying (MSK) for a directly modulated microwave transmitter. However, while an MSK signal can be generated simply by frequency-shift keying a high-power oscillator with prefiltered data, the modulator will be of practical use only if some feedback circuits are incorporated to control the modulation index and the nominal carrier frequency. The author presents circuits to implement such controls
