Abstract
The magnetic flux density distribution in the air-gap of single sided slotted electric machines is analyzed in the paper and the Carter´s factor is computed. The finite element method (FEM) obtained results are compared with that calculated by using analytic estimation functions. The case of single sided slotted machines with large values of the slot opening to tooth pitch ratio is discussed also in the paper, interesting conclusions being drawn by comparing the air-gap flux density values obtained via 2D-FEM analysis against analytical estimations.
