Abstract
Massive amounts of vehicle emissions have been accumulating all over the world and are posing a threat to the global environment. On top of that, with more and more conventional vehicles being produced and sold, the increasing demands of energy will probably lead to an energy crisis. In order to avoid such things happen and reduce the air pollution, governments around the world have being considering the electric vehicles for years. In this paper, the AHP (analytic hierarchy process) was employed develop a model for assessing the environmental, social, economic and health impacts of widely using electric vehicles. A model that all the US conventional vehicles are replaced by electric vehicles to assess how much money the country could save by widely using electric vehicles WAS developed, then this model was expand to estimate how much money the world would save by widely using electric vehicles. Finally the key factors that the governments and vehicle manufacturers may need to consider when determining if and how to support the development and use of the electric vehicles was evaluated.
