Abstract
In this paper, a new control approach for AC servo drive systems-fuzzy variable structure control (FVSC)-is proposed. It combines the advantages of fuzzy logic (FL) and variable structure control (VSC). FL is used to reduce the unfavorable chattering phenomena while VSC heightens the control system´s robustness to parameter variations and load disturbances. Simulation results indicate that the proposed approach improves the control system performance evidently
