Abstract :
Deregulation and competition in the electric power industry introduces a new grade of cost awareness. In this context the question as to what grade automated system operation could be realized is gaining a new dimension. Some innovative approaches for advanced EMS functions are described, implemented and verified under the operational realism of an operator training simulator as test bed.
