Abstract
A time-of-flight magnetic resonance imaging method was used to measure velocity profiles for pure oscillatory flow, steady plus oscillatory flow and pulsatile flow in axisymmetrical tube models within normal physiological flow conditions. The results obtained from the images are compared with the theoretical predictions, and good agreement is observed. The instantaneous flow rates calculated from the images also agree well with those measured using an ultrasonic flowmeter
