Abstract
Tripping of a transmission line during a power swing causes instability of a power system. When a power swing occurs, distance relays are tripped. In such a case it is necessary to set the power swing blocking relay such that unwanted operation does not occur. To achieve that, first power swing should be analyzed. Second, probability of fault occurrence must be found. Finally, settings of power swing relays must be calculated.
