Abstract :
This paper studies response characteristics of the chaotic spiking oscillator (CSO) to periodic pulse-train input. The CSO has two continuous states and can exhibit interesting synchronous and asynchronous phenomena. Using a firing rate and the Lyapunov exponent of a return map, we classify the synchronous phenomena and give the parameters condition for each phenomenon. We also present a novel simple test circuit and verify typical phenomena in the laboratory
