Abstract :
An innovative low-frequency fiber-optic coupling vibration sensor for monitoring vibration of large-size structures is presented. The working principle of low-frequency fiber-optic coupling vibration sensor is discussed and the demodulation system for photoelectric conversion and signal process to its response is designed. A prototype fiber optic vibration detection system is developed successfully. The output of the sensor when applied with low-frequency vibration and shock is shown. Experimental results show that the sensor´s sensitivity is 2000mV/g, and its Signal to Noise is 32dB. The fiber-optic sensor demonstrates high response capability in comparison with piezoelectric accelerometer, and it could realize the measurement of the low frequency vibration.
