Abstract :
A theory-based controlling unstable-equilibrium-point (UEP) method is presented for direct analysis of power system transient stability. The system model is described, and an algorithm for finding the controlling UEP is presented. This method has been tested on a 118-bus power system for which the classical power system model is used. Simulation results so far indicate that the method gives reliable and accurate stability assessments. Its computational efficiency needs further investigation
