  • Abstract
In this paper, a special structure of power systems with parametrizations of the load flow equations is used to calculate all the solutions. First, all necessary conditions and theorems are given to solve the problem theoretically. With the help of software-packages like AUTO97, some examples are computed and the results discussed. Some hints for the general problem of finding a suitable parametrization for the algorithm are given. The solution of the algebraic representation can be used as starting conditions for analysis of transient states of the system. Especially the bifurcational behavior can be analyzed; the continuation method is therefore an suitable tool to determine the effect and possible location of devices for FACTS.
