Abstract :
In Brillouin-distribution fiber sensing system, it is important to get narrow-line-width and stable optical pulse as input light. Based on this point, the optical modulations have being studied and it was found that the external modulation using lithium niobate (LiNbO3) electro-optics modulator in Brillouin distribution fiber sensing system was good choice. This paper introduced this kind of modulation, including its mechanism, its operation principle. As a result, the optimum optical pulse was gotten under the condition that the modulator was operated correctly. The experiment indicated several issues about the modulator and the improvement method was put forward.
