Effect of MAC layer protocol in building trust and reputation scheme in mobile ad hoc network

In Wireless network, routing misbehavior is analyzed and trust calculation based on them is formulated. Our study is based on MAC layer misbehavior and how we can incorporate a scheme based on MACA for Wireless LANs (MACAW) and Power-Aware Medium Access Control with Signaling (PAMAS). We emphasized on data structure used for maintaining trust and energy consumed in exchanging the trust value. In case of MACAW, the acknowledgement received increases or maintains the trust value. In case of PAMAS, the trust of neighboring nodes is considered. We found that our scheme takes T_R/T_R+T, where T_R is transmission energy and T for computing trust. Since T<;<;T_R, the energy is only used in transmission.
