Abstract :
This paper describes the approach being used in Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda of Bosnia Herzegovina (EP BiH) for future selection of material and design for composite insulators (CI) to be used in its transmission lines. This approach is based on learning from the experiences belonging to someone else, as well as on the authors\´ own experience gained by practical use and monitoring of the composite insulators installed. The results of the research work undertaken during several past years is a preliminary in-house technical specification which is to be a document of "dynamic nature"-being changed (improved) according to all approved technical knowledge gathered by other utilities on all over the world.
