Abstract :
A crypto mechanism namely time-varying encryption system, is proposed in paper. In the Ethernet network, the sub-micro second range time synchronization among slave clocks and the master clocks can be reached if they follow the Precision Time Synchronization Protocol (PTP), which is described in the IEEE 1588 standard. The time tags as well as some internal parameters for time synchronization are used for generating the encrypted cipher text at the transmission port. The same set of time tags and internal parameters are used for recovering the information at the receiving port. Since the time tags and parameters are updated every 2 seconds, the hacker code-breaking with brute-force approach will fail.
