  • Abstract
An evaluation of a solid modeling engineering workstation as a platform for 2-D and 3-D medical imaging applications is presented. Reconstructions are performed on a Hewlett-Packard 9000 Model 370 TurboSRX computer system. Surface (polygonal) and volumetric (2-D projection) models are compared. It is shown that models of comparable quality can be developed and viewed for both approaches. The display performance is better for the polygonal surface model because it relies on the higher performance graphics subsystem for processing
