Abstract :
The predictive decision feedback equaliser (PDFE) has been suggested as a possible alternative to the so-called conventional DFE. In this paper the PDFE is compared with the double-channel version of the conventional DFE in a multipath environment. The structure is discussed and differences from the conventional DFE structure are highlighted. Computational complexities are also compared. A fractional-T version of the lattice PDFE algorithm is given. The systems are compared using computer simulation. The PDFE has a definite disadvantage which can be overcome only by a fractional-T PDFE combined with error-correction coding
