Abstract :
Transient behavior of grounding electrodes cannot be accurately determined using existing modeling techniques, as these are normally applied to grounding resistance calculation under a 50 Hz excitation. In this paper, a new technique is proposed to model the transient behavior of power system grounding electrodes based on the calculation of travelling waves. Results are compared to those obtained by applying the established technique published and they are of a comparable form to those from literature.
