Abstract :
Redundant power systems are used where safety or power availability is critical. An alternate approach is proposed and compared to existing power system configurations. An example as applied to critical avionics on aircraft is presented, illustrating cost and weight savings in addition to improved power system performance. The reliability models, fault tolerant modular redundant systems and power distribution are discussed as is the proposed fault tolerant system
