Abstract
The problems of insulator choice and maintenance in subtropical areas have many complex and specific features. Basic directions of investigations and solutions to some of the problems that Israel Electric Corporation faced in its network are presented. Most of the results presented in the paper are based on field investigations and service experience rather than on pure laboratory investigations
