Abstract :
Currently, high breaking capacity (HBC) fuse-links are used within high power converters as fast protective devices against possible explosions, which might occur in the case of failures. This work analyzes and models the prearcing period of an HBC fuse-links for overload operating conditions. The model has been based on various published paper, regarding HBC fuse modelling. The subject fuse can also operate incorrectly due to some unexpected phenomena, the so called "nuisance operation". The results of simulation in Saber using this developed model for a particular application are finally presented.
