Abstract :
We propose and analyze a method of estimating the angle of arrival of the dominant component of a signal. Our approach is based on solving a class of optimization problems involving the moments of the directional power variance. This method contains as a special case of the power variance method. Simulations are used to illustrate our approach. Generalizations of the method are also discussed
