  • Abstract
The possibility of linearizing the I-V characteristic of a nonlinear circuit by including a linear resistance is shown. A linearizing circuit is analyzed in which the third-order and all even-order nonlinearities are canceled by an external linear resistance and employment of a symmetric push-pull mode. Measurements of the I-V characteristics and spectral response of a linearized fifth-order circuit incorporating a p-n junction, as well of a semiconductor amplifier confirm the effectiveness of the technique. The increase in linearity exceeds 40 dB. The underlying principle and specific circuits might be applicable both to discrete and integrated electronics
