Abstract :
In the paper the results of transient electromagnetic phenomena simulations at switching and fault conditions in an AC/DC power system are presented. The mathematical simulations of transient phenomena were realised with the use of the ATP/EMTP program. For the ATP program, the method for thyristor valves control, utilising subprogram models, are prepared. In conclusion, the essential results of simulations of transient electromagnetic phenomena in converter stations of AC/DC power systems are presented. The results of simulations may be used for the selection of overvoltage and overcurrent protection devices and for recommended sequences of switching operations.
